Thanks, Chris! Your observations and insights regarding “creativity” in product design is refreshing to read. Because we serve the people (and their problems), our work contains a layer of objectivity that “art” can wiggle away from. Therefore, we must judge our outcomes in real-world scenarios and contexts with relevant goals and metrics.
I’ve found that in addition to being curious, empathetic, and critical thinkers, being able to articulate and communicate design decisions, rationale, and strategy is a must for Product Designers.
